Instrument supplied in kit form for home assembly.
This spinet was inspired by an original instrument dated 1770, built by Albertus Delin (1712-1771) in Tournai and now preserved in the Brussels Musical Instrument Museum. It has been slightly modified the original specification to provide a 56-note keyboard which allows transposition to A440 without the loss of the top note.
This model is ideal as a kit for many reasons. The ease of construction and the low price assist the first-time builder, and for a player beginning to explore the fascinating world of early keyboards, here is an instrument with good tone, pleasant touch, and a keyboard compass sufficient for perhaps 90% of the repertoire.
